The best Korean restaurant in Bangkok is Sinaburo

Sinaburo is the best Korean restaurant in Bangkok and, honestly, it’s not much of a competition. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of good Korean joints in the Thai capital. But none match this quaint eatery located on Ekkamai Soi 12.

If you have ever been to Seoul, you know one of the things that makes it special is the presence of small, unassuming restaurants that serve amazing food. These are usually family-owned and operated places and have a certain charm to them.

That charm, that feeling of being in Seoul, is what you get from the minute you enter Sinaburo. Unlike the chain restaurants operating in the malls or even the tourist-y feeling Korean Town, this is an authentic place. It’s run by a Korean family that have been doing this for years who you can tell love what they do.

We are not in Bangkok anymore…

When you dine at Sinaburo, it doesn’t really feel like you’re in Bangkok at all. From the wooden tables to the soju posters adorning the walls, the vibe here is distinctly South Korea.

I haven’t mentioned the food yet because I don’t have much to say apart from its fucking awesome. I’m not some flavors guy who will prattle on about palette tastes and what not. Simply put, it is just delicious, home-cooked Korean food.

In fact, every person me and my wife have taken to Sinaburo love it as well. Although, we suspect some of her single female friends are more interested in seeing the Korean heartthrob son who helps out when it gets busy.

Back to the restaurant. Portion sizes at Sinaburo are really big and it’s great to go with a few people and share numerous entrees. As per Korean tradition, side dishes and water are free and come with as many refills as your heart desires. Pricing is reasonable with entrees ranging from THB250 to THB500.

pollack roe soup Bangkok
The pollack roe soup is hard to find in Thailand

Sinaburo is open 4pm to midnight each day. It is on Ekkamai Soi 12 close to Coffee Beans by Dao. Despite having no signs, it is very easy to find. Just look for the little wooden house next to the Japanese fishing store.

And just to make myself clear, this is the best Korean restaurant in Bangkok, and you should stop everything you are doing to eat here.

Recommendation

Sinaburo is the best Korean restaurant in Bangkok and the dongatzu pizza is the best dish

I love the dongatzu pizza which is a pork cutlet topped with tonkatsu sauce, mushrooms, onions and cheese. The seafood pancake is great as well. My wife and her Thai friends all swear by the pollack roe soup, although I have never and will never try it.

Price

As mentioned previously, prices here are reasonable for just about everything. Especially when you factor in the free sides like kimchi. For three/four people, you are looking at a bill of around THB1000-1500 depending on what you order.

Getting there

Sinaburo is midway down Ekkamai Soi 12 in that odd little stretch of shops. There are one or two parking spaces in front of the eatery although these are not guaranteed. Parking is available at the restaurant/coffee shop across the street for like THB40 baht an hour. You can always cut that fee by ordering something there. Getting a motorbike from BTS Ekkamai will set you back THB25.
