Meliá Chiang Mai is scheduled to open during the fourth quarter of 2021

Integrated lifestyle real estate group Asset World Corporation (AWC) and Spanish hotelier Meliá have launched a new luxury property slated to open in the fourth quarter of this year. Meliá Chiang Mai will have 260 rooms and becomes the second hotel to open under the brand in Thailand.

The five-star hotel is located on Charoen Prathet Road and offers views of the River Ping and the always popular Iron Bridge. Its central location provides guests with easy access to the Night Bazaar and Chiang Mai’s other sights. It will stand 22-stories and be fronted by a seven-floor podium building.

Meliá Chiang Mai is owned by Khun Wallapa Traisorat, AWC’s CEO and President, who noted the hotel opening is part of a larger strategy that will help support the growth of Thailand’s tourism landscape and economy once the situation improves.

“With its exceptional location in the heart of Chiang Mai and an unparalleled array of facilities, Meliá Chiang Mai is a landmark project of our strategic roll-out of the Meliá brand in Thailand, in line with AWC’s growth-led strategy,” Khun Wallapa explained. “Partnering with Meliá has allowed us to set a new benchmark for Thai hospitality and together, we aim to build a better future for Thailand’s tourism landscape and economy.”

Chiang Mai’s history and culture have been incorporated throughout the design of the hotel with contemporary flourishes found throughout. The most notable feature of the hotel will be a 360-degree rooftop bar offering patrons views of the River Ping and Doi Suthep Temple on the mountaintop to the west. It is set to become the highest rooftop bar in the city.

Meliá Chiang Mai will also have two restaurants, two bars, two lounges and a signature spa in addition to a fitness center, swimming pool, ballroom and four meeting spaces.

This will be the second Meliá hotel to open in the Kingdom after Meliá Koh Samui welcomed guests last year. The resort has been well received by visitors and has driven the hotelier to continue with its growth strategy for Thailand.

“Following the hugely successful opening of Meliá Koh Samui, ranked TripAdvisor’s number one hotel in Koh Samui, Meliá Chiang Mai will be another flagship property for Meliá Hotels International in Thailand,” Ignacio Martin, Area Managing Director South East Asia of Meliá Hotels International, stated. “As we continue to strengthen our growth strategy with our key partners, AWC understands and shares our strong service and hospitality philosophy — a fundamental factor in ensuring the quality, reputation, and sustainability we strive for.”
