The Ritz-Carlton plans to open its first Fukuoka hotel in June with this also being the first high-end Marriott property in Japan’s Kyushu region. It will be part of Fukuoka Daimyo Garden City, an expansive mixed-use development that will contain retail and office space as well as a large garden area.
The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka will contain 167 rooms in addition to all the usual 5-star bells and whistles. There will be restaurants and bars along with a range of amenities for guests to enjoy. The hotel will cover the tower’s 17th-24th floors.
Prior to COVID-19, Fukuoka was seen as an up-and-coming destination among global tourists looking for new places to explore in Japan while continuing to be popular among locals. Additionally, the city has ambitions of being a strategic international business hub.
With an international airport serving many notable Asian cities, robust infrastructure and pleasant surroundings, local officials believe Fukuoka is only now starting to tap into its full potential.
However, the city, and Kyushu region as a whole, didn’t have any international, 5-star hotels. That changes with the opening of The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka later this year which will fill a noticeable gap in the local market.
This will be the sixth Ritz-Carlton hotel in Japan. Current properties can be found in Osaka, Tokyo, Okinawa, Kyoto and Nikko.
