There is nothing fancy about Omakase Don by Teppen. They do one thing, and they do an amazing job at it. Their rice bowls cannot be beat. It is just protein, rice and an egg, but this donburi is a must try.
Located on the ground floor of Donki Mall Thong Lor, Omakase Don by Teppen uses fresh seafood, high-quality Wagyu, premium eggs and Japanese rice to create its donburi. Salmon, unagi (eel), hotate (scallops) and kani (shrimp) are all available. There are also kaizen options that have multiple seafood ingredients along with pork and beef rice bowls. Each month there is a special or two worth trying.
Additionally, for THB40 more, you can get a combo that comes with an iced green tea and a salad with yuzu dressing. The menu has a few appetizers and some nigiri sushi as well. The eatery used to serve deep-fried Oreos with ice cream although it is not on the menu at the moment.
A special mention goes to the staff at Omakase Don by Teppen who are amazing. They are friendly and genuinely seem to care about customers. What’s more, they are exceptionally consistent when it comes to food preparation.
One thing needs to be mentioned and that’s the size of the rice bowls. You will find some complaints online about servings being small, but these miss the mark. Instead of spamming the donburi with rice, you will find a nice balance between meat and rice. Or to put it another way, there are no empty bites of only rice.
There are actually two Omakase Don by Teppen branches – the Donki one along with a spot at ICONSIAM. It’s part of the Teppen Group that has a few different restaurants around Bangkok. It’s an offshoot of Teppen Izakaya in Japan.

Recommendation
The Salmon Wagyu Don is my go-to dish from Omakase Don by Teppen. The salmon is amazing, and the wagyu is delicious. It’s hard to pick just one. This ensures I don’t actually have to choose. A special mention to the Salmon Dice Don as well.
Price
Omakase Don by Teppen is reasonably priced. You can get a salmon donburi for less than THB200. Some of the rice bowls with premium ingredients go for THB300-400 while a few high-end menu items cost more than THB600.
Getting there
You can find it in the “Little Home Dining” food court area of Donki Mall Thong Lor. It is a small stall next to Butcher King Burger. Dine-in and takeaway are offered while delivery is available as well.
From BTS Ekkamai, you can hop on the free Donki Mall shuttle which stops in front of Major Ekkamai. You can scan the QR code below to see where it’s at. A motorbike from the BTS station will set you back THB20. There is plenty of parking at Donki Mall.
