Coca-Cola India recently launched new sustainability initiatives

Coca-Cola India is no stranger to sustainability. The company joined programs such as Swachh Bharat (Clean India), Plastic Waste Management Rules and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. More action is required which is why the beverage maker announced a new sustainability initiative that it hopes will build a circular plastic economy.

According to a company press release, Coca-Cola India intends to work closely with every stakeholder of the plastic recycling value chain, including waste collectors and recyclers. The latest sustainability initiative will support several strategic multi-stakeholder partnerships already in place that also focus on waste collection and recycling.

The company is partnering with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on the program called Project Prithvi. This is an end-to-end plastic waste management initiative that is being rolled out in 50 cities across India.

Additionally, Coca-Cola India unveiled Karo Sambhav (Closing Material Loops). The soda giant is teaming up with the Packaging Association for Clean Environment (PACE), to develop a system which enables inclusion, ethics, transparency, good governance and traceability of waste.
