Finding really good okonomiyaki in Bangkok is difficult. The same thing goes for yakisoba as well. There are lots of places that offer them, but very few are specialists. That is what makes Tsuruhashi Fugetsu so great. They are Ekkamai’s Yaki masters.
If you have ever visited Osaka or the greater Kansai region, then you’ve probably seen and maybe even ate at Tsuruhashi Fugetsu. They have a few overseas outlets but their store in Donki Mall Thonglor remains the eatery’s first and only Thailand branch. And I am thankful they chose Ekkamai because the eatery serves some amazing dishes.
Yaki essentially means cooked over heat in Japanese and there are hotplates on every table at Tsuruhashi Fugetsu. That is because their three signature dishes, along with most other things on the menu, are served yaki style and need to be heated in front of you.
There is the okonomiyaki, or Japanese-style pizza, which is carefully created by chefs and baked in the kitchen before being served on the hotplate. Tsuruhashi Fugetsu is also well known for its yakisoba with the noodles being made from scratch.
However, the real star of the restaurant is the modanyaki which is a combination of okonomiyaki and yakisoba. This thing is just so flavorful and unique. You can get various types of meat included with seafood being the most popular option.
It does need to be said that modanyaki is extremely filling. The size may not look at all that big, but the dish easily feeds two people. Tsuruhashi Fugetsu has a number of sets available that serve multiple people. These come with appetizers, signature items and sides and are a great way to try a few different things.
Tsuruhashi Fugetsu is open 11am to 9pm every day. It is located on the second floor of Donki Mall.

Recommendation
The modanyaki with any type of meat is the way to go here. The yakisoba noodles on top of the okonomiyaki is incredible. That being said, if you’re eating at Tsuruhashi Fugetsu with a few friends, the set menus are your best option.
Price
Tsuruhashi Fugetsu is moderately priced with the okonomiyaki and modanyaki ranging between THB250-400. Two people can eat at the restaurant for around THB600-THB800 depending on if alcohol is ordered. The lunch set here also offers good value for money.
Getting there
Tsuruhashi Fugetsu can be found on the second floor of Donki Mall Thonglor, next to Fuji. From BTS Ekkamai, you can hop on the free Donki Mall shuttle which stops in front of Major Ekkamai. A motorbike from the BTS station will set you back THB20. There is plenty of parking at Donki Mall.
