With in-person dining banned in Bangkok for the next few weeks, it will be a steady diet of delivery or takeaway for most people. However, if you rely on Foodpanda, Grab and Gojek to order, you miss out on a lot of amazing Ekkamai restaurants and cafes.
That’s because it can be difficult to find new places or independent spots using these applications. It feels like you are usually shown the same 20-30 eateries which makes it hard to break out of your comfort zone. Even if you find some place, you may get a better deal by directly ordering from the restaurant. At the very least, they won’t lose 30-40% to the delivery service.
If you are in or around Ekkamai during the lockdown that the Thai government doesn’t want to call a lockdown, do yourself a favor and try one, or all, of these restaurants and cafes.

Ekkamai restaurants and cafes you need to try
1) Sinaburo
Why you should try it: It’s the best Korean restaurant in Bangkok. Free sides are included.
This is just a friendly reminder that Sinaburo is without question the best Korean restaurant in Bangkok. While it’s sad you can’t dine in at their cozy restaurant, the food is still awesome. And the owner hooks it up with the Korean side dishes even when you order takeaway.

What to know
Currently, Sinaburo is only offering takeaway which means you need to visit their shop on Ekkamai Soi 12.
2) Poco A Poco
Why you should try it: A unique take on Italian and other European favorites. Try the homemade Coke.
Poco A Poco is a personal favorite that I will eventually review in full one day. In the meantime, you should try this Japanese-style Western restaurant. If you’ve ever been to Japan, you will understand what that is. And if not, well, the place serves pasta and other western favorites with a Japanese twist. The chef at Poco A Poco is extremely passionate about his craft and is always trying out new dishes.

Delivery and takeout can be ordered directly from the shop. You can follow Poco A Poco on Facebook here.
3) Better Burger
Why you should try it: You have never had a burger that tastes this good.
Sometimes I walk past Better Burger for the amazing smell. The aroma is amazing. And somehow the burgers here are even better. It’s not just beef either. My wife swears by the pork burger. You can also get free delivery around the Ekkamai/Thong Lor/Phra Khanong area if you order using Line.

Why you should try it: It’s simply great coffee.
KKDC Café is another Interesting Ekkamai favorite and worth visiting if you’re in the market for coffee in the morning. You can check out our full review on what makes it so awesome. KKDC Café is located in the retail complex on the corner of Sukhumvit 63 and Ekkamai Soi 10.
What to know
KKDC Café is open for takeaway from 10am-6pm every day.
5) Susan Croissant
Why you should try it: You won’t find another dessert quite like what’s served here.
You may already be familiar with Susan Croissant as it was everywhere on Facebook for a hot minute a few months ago. If you missed it, this is the place to go for over-the-top croissants. If you are in the mood for something sweet, then you should try a Frido, which is essentially a cronut. The Walnut Bomb remains our favorite.
What to know
Susan Croissant is available on most food delivery apps. You can also pickup your sweet treat at their shop on Ekkamai Soi 24 or via Line.
6) Butcher King Burger
Why you should try it: It’s the best place for breakfast and opens before 10am.
Burger may be in the name, but there is a lot more to enjoy at Butcher King Burger than meat between two buns. Quite frankly, there aren’t many Ekkamai restaurants that open before 10am so we love the fact it’s possible to order breakfast before the morning ends.
